The Band That Changes changed yet again as Brian Dunton plugged in his bass and Sean "King" Devlin assumed the drum throne. The "string section" stayed on board, and Hub held on to his Stratocaster as former Miracle Legion-aires Mark Mulcahy and guitarist Ray Neil grabbed the reigns. They showed no evidence of the years that have elapsed since the Legion broke up, and their contribution to the night was a powerful, melodic tear through the groups songbook. Ray, as usual, was a smouldering volacano on the six-string. Mark, sporting mutton chop sideburns and a wearing a suit that was (I can't resist) well-suited to the purpose, looked more than a bit like Joe Cocker circa 1970. His vocal performance was also evocative of vintage Cocker, minus the facial contortions- strong, soulful, and in command. He got the crowd to sing along on without much effort (most of us couldn't help singing along anyway), and "the world was so big, I was so small, your voice was always / the loudest of all" echoed off the walls at T.T.'s. On this occassion it may have been my voice that was "loudest of all".
