Boston Rock!

The Boston
Rock Storybook deals with the legends- and losers -of the Boston Rock scene.
Stories feature photos, LP covers, posters - all of the flotsam and jetsam that
went with the music of the late 70's thru the 90's. This was the most active
period of my career in Boston, when I owned So-So Studios ('84-'86), Fort
Apache ('86 - '93), and was a founding member of Helldorado, the three-man
team that began booking bands at the now-famous Middle
East Restaurant. The Disclaimer explains the
history of this site, and how band's are selected, so it's a good place to begin;
for your next stop, try the Alphabetical Band List.
A lot of "construction" is still going on, but it's a non-commercial, one-man
operation, so please be patient. Think of it as a work in progress
I am honored by your presence, and I'm genuinely sorry that I can't included
everyone's favorite groups - but please read the
Disclaimer before you email me to complain. The Boston scene during the
years I cover was probably the best in the country, and I'd hate to see it forgotten
or glossed over. It'd be cool if this site helps to inspire others to launch
their own projects, to cover all those great bands I can't get to. But if it
just brings back some fond recollections of a favorite band or a much-dug tune...
if it kindles thoughts of an old flame... or even briefly recalls the never-to-return
thrill of sitting at the Rat with your feet stuck to the floor, or in a stanky
booth at Cantones under a single dim red bulb, and having your world rocked
as it had never been rocked before- then it's done it's job, and I'm happy.
